Economic Development
Welcome to the Village of Howard's economic development web page! Please take a moment to explore the each of the links in the menu on the left hand side of this page.

Howard's transporation infrastructure makes it a premiere destination for retail, office, industrial & residential development in northeast Wisconsin. US 41 provides direct access from several major markets, including as far south as Miami, Florida. Interstate 43 provides direct access to the Milwaukee & Chicago markets and terminates in Howard. STH 29 provides access to several micropolitan statistical areas in north central Wisconsin.

There are four US Highway interchanges (STH 29/US 41, Velp Avenue/US 41, I-43/US 41 and US 41/CTH M) and several STH 29 intersections, including Packerland/STH 29, in the Village of Howard. The $1.6 billion US 41 reconstruction project will only enhance transportation access to and from Howard in the coming five years.

The Village is also located within 10 minutes of Austin Straubel International Airport and the Port of Green Bay and has direct access to several railway systems (including Canadian National - Class 1 with direct access to Chicago - and the Escanaba & Lake Superior rail lines).

Besides unparalled transportation assets, the Green Bay metropolitan area and the proximity of the Fox Valley metropolitan area bring over 400,000 consumers to the Howard trade area. These numbers do not include the strong retail pull from northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Those consumers also frequent our regional retail businesses, including Woodman's Grocery Store and Fleet Farm, which are strategically located at the crossroads of US 41 & STH 29. In addition, the Green Bay area has been rated highly by several national publications for small business growth, entrepreneurism and being a family-oriented community.
