Public Hearing Notices
Beginning in August 2023, the Village of Howard will post public hearing notices not legally required to be published in a newspaper on the village's website instead. Public hearings are a special kind of government meeting where the purpose is to gather input on a particular topic from those in attendance. Examples include hearings on a rezoning or conditional use application, the Village budget, or other specific topics.
Most public hearings are held during Plan Commission meetings and involve proposed projects or rezoning requests. In these situations, impacted neighboring property owners will receive a postcard informing them about the request and the public hearing date and time to provide comments.
Other public hearings are held during Village Board meetings. These typically involve proposed special assessments and the annual Budget hearing.
